SPEED KILL HATE -- BEHIND THE MASK

Now here's my rant for the week, posted on facebook already but here for all eternity:

Here is where Kimmi is pissed off:
Yesterday in the mail I received the Rolling Stone magazine with the Boston bomber on the cover.
I have NEVER subscribed to that magazine before and I resented that the one time they decide to give me a freebie is one which I do NOT want to read. There is no musician on the cover - the bomber had nothing to do with music, the bombing itself had nothing to do with music.

I actually understood when Rolling Stone put Justin Bieber on the cover. Whether you like his music or not, he does make music and I, in fact, found it an incredible marketing ploy to get a new generation to read the magazine.

But this? The bomber? I have not said anything about the hoopla until now but when it showed up, unannounced, unasked for, unNEEDED in my mailbox I got ANGRY. Why force this down my throat? Why does a magazine that supports music, that is historical in the music publishing industry, feel that they have ANY RIGHT to report on such an issue? And why not let the people who WANT to read it BUY IT???

I have written a letter to Rolling Stone magazine and sent it to them with their copy of the magazine. Although I did read their mag from time to time, I no longer will. I am INCENSED that this came to me.

I believe in freedom of speech and if they choose to write about the bomber, fine. But I have the choice of whether or not to bring that into my home -- and I do not choose that.
